is a DDS-2 tape
that uses an Aramid base and MP++ (Metal Particle ++) as its tape formulation. The Sony DGD-120P
has a native 8 GB and a compressed 24 GB capacity on a tape of 125 meters in length. The transfer rate applicable to the DGD-120P is 1.5 MB/s, a marked improvement over DDS-1 tapes
which had a transfer rate of 0.6 MB/s. The cartridge shell of the DGD-120P
is uniquely designed to ensure that there is minimal torque on the tape, thus preventing stretching, etc to ensure that your data is reliably stored.
