The Supermicro AOC-SAS3-9300-8E is a high performance Host Bus Adapter designed to expand storage connectivity for enterprise servers. Built on the LSI SAS3008 I/O controller, this card provides eight external ports capable of 12Gbps data transfer rates, making it an ideal solution for connecting high speed external storage enclosures and JBODs. It utilizes a PCIe 3.0 x8 interface to ensure sufficient bandwidth for bandwidth intensive applications such as video streaming, data mining, and transactional databases. This adapter supports up to 1024 SAS and SATA devices, offering massive scalability for growing data centers. Its low profile form factor allows for easy installation in space constrained rackmount servers while maintaining excellent thermal efficiency.
The Supermicro MBD-A1SRM-LN7F-2758-O is a specialized server motherboard designed for high-performance embedded networking applications. Built around the low-power 8-Core Intel Atom C2758 processor, this Micro-ATX board delivers exceptional efficiency for network security appliances, firewalls, and software-defined networking nodes. It distinguishes itself with an impressive array of seven Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, making it a robust choice for complex routing or gateway solutions. Procurement teams and system integrators will appreciate its support for standard DDR3 UDIMM memory, which reduces total build costs compared to specialized SODIMM alternatives. With integrated IPMI 2.0 for remote management and a compact footprint, this motherboard is engineered to provide reliable, always-on connectivity for enterprise edge environments and SMB infrastructure.
DRAM is a type of RAM (random access memory) used as the main memory in several computing devices, such as desktop and notebook computers, servers, and high-end workstations. It is the most widely used semiconductor memory used in current generation computers, and offers several significant advantages, such as structural simplicity, very high packing densities (number of bytes that can be stored per unit of chip area), low power consumption, and sufficiently high data read/write speeds. Several types of DRAM are presently available for deployment on various computing platforms, such as home/personal computers, portable computers, and network servers. This type of memory has undergone several innovative technological developments and offers very high price/performance ratios. Two types of DRAM are widely used for deployment in current generation servers: registered memory, and fully-buffered (FB) memory. Both these memory types are commercially available as DIMMs (dual inline memory modules). Registered DIMMs (or RDIMMs) are designed with an additional hardware register between the DRAM module and the system’s memory controller. RDIMMs present several advantages for the system, such as a lower electrical load on the memory controller and sustained stability even with an increase in the number of installed memory modules. Thus, RDIMMs are often the default choice for deployment in server-class computing systems. Fully-buffered DIMMs (or FB-DIMMs) are intended to be used in systems requiring higher memory densities with limited board space. As opposed to the parallel data transfer technique used in normal DRAM, FB-DIMMs transfer data in a serial format, using an additional buffer, known as advanced memory buffer (AMB) between the memory controller and the FB-DIMM modules. The AMB acts as an intermediary and handles all data reads/writes for the memory modules, taking care of issues such as signal degradation and error correction and reducing any overhead on the memory controller. Thus, FB-DIMMs prove to be a reliable alternative for deployment in server-grade machines.
The Supermicro AOC-MTG-I2T-O is a high performance network adapter designed specifically for Supermicro servers equipped with a Super I/O Module (SIOM) slot. This specialized form factor allows data centers to upgrade networking capabilities without consuming a standard PCIe expansion slot, preserving valuable space for other add on cards. Powered by the Intel X550 chipset, this adapter delivers dual port 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity using standard RJ45 copper cabling. It is an ideal solution for high density environments like Cloud, Web 2.0, and virtualized data centers that require cost effective and reliable 10GBase T networking. The card supports advanced virtualization features including VXLAN and NVGRE offloads, ensuring efficient traffic management and reduced CPU overhead.
